On 4th April, 1917, the 2nd Durham Light Infantry battalion of 18 Brigade, 6th Division moved into the front line trenches in the Loos sector of the Western Front where they remained until relieved on 10th April when they moved back into reserve at Mazingarbe. The battalion diary gives no information concerning the death of Walter Faulkner on 10th April but it is possible that he was killed during the relief which was always a time of added danger. |
